Is the CMAC IP required for Ethernet?

The CMAC IP is not required for standard Ethernet interfaces such as GEM0 and GEM3. These interfaces operate using the integrated Gigabit Ethernet MAC (GEM) available in the processing system and therefore do not require any additional CMAC IP.

The term CMAC refers to the Integrated 100G Ethernet Subsystem available in UltraScale+ devices. It is designed to provide a complete high-speed Ethernet interface capable of supporting 100 Gigabit Ethernet (100G) operation.
