Please follow Section “JTAG Boot with PetaLinux” in the Software User Manual.
JTAG boot; rootfs image size limitations, large rootfs images can cause issues when programming via JTAG. For this reason, we recommend using a minimal rootfs configuration when booting through JTAG.
To reduce the root filesystem size, you can follow the procedure below:
Disable the unwanted rootfs packages using the root filesystem configuration menu.
From the PetaLinux project build directory, run:
host@host/<Directory>/versal-iwg57m$ petalinux-config -c rootfs
This will open the root filesystem configuration menu, where the user can disable the unnecessary packages and kernel modules to generate a minimal image suitable for JTAG boot.
