Recommended troubleshooting steps to follow when the HDMI output fails to function:
- Check for the voltage points on the SOM when the HDMI cable is connected.
- The below command provided will make the HDMI as always connected irrespective of the Cable connection,
echo on > /sys/class/drm/card1-HDMI-A-1/status - If using a display with a 1024x768 resolution. If not, EDID corruption might be causing random resolution or mode detection when the HDMI enable command is issued. Please verify that all EDID-related hardware connections on the board are stable.
- Check the I²C data and clock lines connected for EDID switches toggles with a logic analyzer when the HDMI cable is hot plugged.
Rrecommended hardware procedure for troubleshooting HDMI EDID issues:
- The iWave logo is visible on the display because U-Boot doesn’t support the EDID function, whereas in the kernel, reading the proper EDID information is required for the display to work correctly.
