PCIe x8 FMC Module: Mode Configuration
The PCIe x8 Gen3 FMC Module is designed to support both Root Port and Endpoint modes. To maintain a standardized hardware design, the onboard PCIe x8 connector pinout is fixed to the Root Port configuration only.
Endpoint Mode Implementation: When operating in Endpoint mode, the FMC module must be interfaced with a Host PC using the external PCIe x8 cable. This specialized cable performs the necessary TX/RX signal swapping required for Endpoint connectivity.
PCIe x8 FMC Module: Cabling and Lane Configuration
The external PCIe x8 cable is 40CM. In our FMC Module, lane reversal is done based on the routing feasibility. By default, tool supports the lane reversal option. If lane reversal is not needed, then we can disable in tool itself. PCIe x8 cable does only TX & RX swapping.
Lane reversal option is supported in Vivado tool.
