The SI5341B currently used in G36M is a 10-output clock generator. The outputs are utilized for multiple reference clocks including PS & PL, PS GTR, Ethernet PHY, DDR, USB PHY, and a system clock for synchronization with the B2B connector whereas SI5338A provides only 4 outputs, while lower in power consumption. This makes it unsuitable for the iW-RainboW-G36M SOM, as it cannot meet the required number of clock outputs. Additionally, the package types of both ICs differ.
