What are the timing requirements for SD card boot in G35M MPSoC SOM?

Timing Adjustments for Boot Media

  • eMMC Boot (Default): An additional 20ms safer delay margin is added and it is updated accordingly in iWave user manual, thereby considering eMMC as default boot device.

  • SD Card Boot: When booting from SD card located on the carrier board, this additional 20ms delay is not recommended. Excessive delay may cause the SD card interface to remain inactive when the MPSoC sends its initial boot commands, resulting in a boot failure.

Revised Design Recommendation

For reliable SD card operation, we recommend a delay of approximately 25ms from the SOM VCC_5V to the carrier board other powers (including SD circuit) is required to properly boot from SD card. This timing ensures that the carrier board peripherals are ready precisely when the MPSoC initiates the boot process.
